Are YOO Curious? Check Out Groundbreaking Information & Renderings

Yoo on the Park South Terrace

It was an informative morning and there was lot of good information coming out of the groundbreaking ceremony for YOO on the Park. There were several renderings of the project to look at, including the South terrace, reception room, fitness center,  club room and an interior shot of floor plan 2A. I’ve included those because I know you are anxiously waiting to see just how hip this building is going to be. YOO on the Park will have 245 luxury apartment homes located on Piedmont Park in the heart of Midtown designed by world-renowned design brand YOO, a company founded by John Hitchcox and Philippe Starck.

The message was clear. Trillist wants to elevate the residential high rise market to new heights. It’s a brilliant move to bring international design powerhouse YOO into the fold. I am very familiar with their work in Miami on some of my favorite condo buildings. YOO projects focus on design, amenities, services and lifestyle. This is Atlanta’s next evolution in high rise living and design. (Download the YOO brochure here to see what I’m talking about.)

Scott L. Leventhal, co-founder and President and Chief Executive Officer of The Trillist Companies, Inc., said he was able to rekindle a decade old relationship a couple years ago with Joseph Kavana. Joseph approached Scott after doing two successful YOO projects in South America, one in Uruguay and the other in Buenos Aries. In Joseph’s approach, he believed there was an excellent opportunity to brand multi-family housing in major markets throughout the United States and offer the worlds’ most renowned interior design firm (which is an international brand) to participate. Together they formed the Trillist companies.

Scott said last fall he was successful in launching a new YOO project in South Florida (Sunrise, Florida) called Metropica. It is the first building in a series of 8 towers to be developed. To date, he said they are seeing sales approach on average of one sale per day – proving to the market the demand for YOO residences is profound. Scott believes YOO on the Park is the next step, the right step for the market, the premium of the premium in multi-family branded housing. I believe he is right and I’m so excited to see Atlanta growing up. Even though this will be a rental building, I know many of you habitual renters will be flocking to this building when it is completed. I also suspect we will see some YOO branded condos being developed in the near future.

Scott said they designed YOO on the Park as an extension of the park, from the outside in, and then again from the inside out. Starting with the exterior architecture, they have brought forth a six-story living wall which is designed in an artistic form. Its design will not only be enjoyed by those living in the building, but by everyone in the community as well. He wants YOO on the Park to operate more as a hospitality facility and not just a residential building. That is part of his overall goal. He plans to focus on the details for this project and the other YOO branded projects he creates.

Honorable Mayor Kasim Reed spoke at the ceremony. He said “this new development represents something special for Midtown Atlanta. YOO on the Park will raise the bar for residential design in the city of Atlanta. And that’s why I’m here, to encourage it. This will have ripple effect across the city because I think other designers will rise to meet that challenge.”

Construction on YOO on the Park has begun and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2016.
