Midtown’s One Museum Place Returns… Again

According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, John Wieland is reviving his plans for a luxury condo project across from the High Museum of Art in Midtown – located at 1301 Peachtree Street.

Small is in these days, or shall we say boutique instead? Long gone is the original 23-story tower with 96 units starting at $2 million. In its place is a smaller 5-story building with a mere 48 units, starting at about $700,0000 and climbing to $2.5 million.

The condos will be located in two buildings, organized around an internal courtyard. Communal spaces for the fitness center and owner’s lounge will be located on the ground floor with direct pedestrian access to Peachtree Street. The building method is stick-frame construction above a level of parking which is below grade along the Peachtree frontage. Not my favorite type of construction for reducing noise levels on a busy street.

Rumor has it that every unit will have a private elevator with direct access to the garage below. Also, the architect is rumored to be Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects, Inc.. They have done several of the High Museums projects.

There was a early “sketch” rendering of the two buildings on the ABC digital edition, but nothing worth seeing at this early stage. The sketch shows the two “boxy” type buildings with black, white, light & dark grey exteriors. Penthouse units on the top have two very large overhangs.

Ground breaking is said to begin sometime in April.
