A Buckhead Penthouse Rises Above All Others (atlantaSKYriseblog exclusive)

At Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby’s International Realty, we represent some of the absolute finest pieces of real estate in the world. This jaw-dropping Buckhead penthouse is no exception. I’m bringing you the exclusive on this space and you won’t find it anywhere else. In fact, this property isn’t even really listed and I can’t even divulge where it’s located, other than letting you know we are definitely in Buckhead. Don’t worry, there will be plenty to talk about and you will have visual overload by time we are through (and remember to click on the photos to make them larger).

The two-story space was purchased quite some time ago as raw space (or as a shell – to which I have referred many times) and that allowed the owner to completely customize the space as they desired. That wasn’t an easy feat considering there is over 7,500 square feet of interior space and over 2,300 square feet of terraces. I know your mind is racing! This truly is a one-of-a-kind space and there isn’t anything like it in Atlanta.

Jim Winer of MAKE Architecture Planning and Design was hired to design the interior and it was completed in 2007. Imagine being given the challenge of creating a masterful space from four walls. How do you make it all come together as a very comfortable and livable space? Jim did this was ease.

I am working on getting a floor plan for this custom space, but as a side note, I was able to see it first hand and it truly is spectacular in person. Above and below are views of the formal living room. The ceilings in this room (and most others) reach more than 12 feet high. Most are covered in curved, light blond wood and bathed in a soft bluish glow. It’s all in the details as nothing was left to chance. The spaces are so well thought out. The architect really understood how rooms should flow together, but more importantly, how people actually live their day to day lives.

I included the photo below to show you how wide the space is. The double glass doors in the background lead to the entrance foyer and condo elevator. You have your own private elevator inside the unit.

Adjacent to the formal living room is an understated formal dining room. There is plenty of room for art, but simplicity is key here. There doesn’t need to be something on every wall or in every single space to make a visual impact. The space off the right could easily accommodate another seating area, but instead there is a beautiful sculpture.

Straight ahead through the doorway is the kitchen, family room and casual dining room.

The spacious kitchen will satisfy the appetite of any cook and has been outfitted with every modern convenience imaginable. The same beautiful ceiling is found again in this space, along with classic white Carrera marble on the island and stainless steel counter tops for the other surfaces. Frosted glass cabinetry flanks the cooktop.

This is a beautiful shot of the kitchen. With over 7,000 square feet of space, there could easily be a kitchen twice and large. Remember, simplicity in scale is paramount.

If you are standing in the kitchen facing the sink, you see the family room and casual dining area. This is one of the spaces I would probably spend the most time in. The doorway to the right of the fireplace leads to a hallway with a ton of built-in storage (and I do mean a ton). I have never seen a penthouse with so much storage before. The stainless steel fireplace echoes the kitchen countertops and brings everything together once again.

Directly off the family room is the kitchen terrace. It has stunning views of the treetops and has an intimate place to dine outside in complete privacy.

As we make our way to the second floor, there is a sculptural, stunning winding staircase. If you feel exhausted you can take the private elevator instead.

I had to include this photo. I love looking up to the ceiling in front of the sculpture. This is amazing architecture.

Located on the second level, the library exudes quiet sophistication. This is another favorite space of mine. I love the way this room has been designed. You have a main room, then another small area behind the bookcase where you can just sit and read.

There are four bedroom suites, four full baths and three-half baths in this penthouse. Below is a guest bedroom which has its own sitting room adjacent to the bedroom. Notice the transom windows which let a ton of natural light into the room. And hopefully you have noticed the spectacular art collection in most of the photos. No detail has been overlooked.

The master bedroom retreat (pictured below) has a soft, muted pallet. This space is larger than most Atlanta condos! There isn’t the need for a ton of furniture to fill the area up. Again, simplicity reigns supreme. There is a large walk-in closet, a stunning master bathroom and private terrace. The light blue sofa has been built-in to a small alcove.

Below is the award winning master bath with automatic window foggers for privacy. This is the best master bathroom I have seen in quite some time.

Take a deep breath, we are moving on to the outside terrace spaces. With over 2,300 square feet of outdoor space, you have plenty of room to be social and still have privacy if you want to. This is the size of many condos in Atlanta – just for outdoor space. Pretty spectacular right?

I hope you enjoyed viewing this very special Buckhead penthouse. This one-of-a-kind condominium is available for purchase and can include all the furnishings and artwork. Priced Upon Request.
