Finally some good news from 12th & Midtown, who recently announced the first major retail component of the massive $2 billion shopping district known as Midtown Mile.
CB2, a Chicago-based home furnishings offshoot of Crate & Barrel, will open its first Atlanta store sometime next summer. The store will be about 14,000 square feet and will be fronting Peachtree Street.
CB2 currently has just six stores: one in SoHo (New York), three in California (Sunset, Union Square and Berkley) and two in Chicago. The Miami location will open next with a store located on trendy Lincoln Road.
I remember hearing that CB2 was thinking about moving into the Atlanta market, but were looking at West Midtown near the Westside Urban Market & White Provisions. I’m glad that they went with the Midtown Mile instead. That’s great news though! Hopefully there will be more retail announcements coming soon!

If you compare/ contrast 12th & Midtown with Terminus, you get a real sense of the growth of Atlanta. It is no longer an either or proposition regarding upscale living. You now have a city that has more than one location/ style for enjoying the best that urban living has to offer.
