Italian luxury brand Brioni will welcome shoppers to its 1,874-square-foot store when The Streets of Buckhead opens in the heart of Atlanta’s affluent Buckhead neighborhood in March 2010.
Brioni boutiques are found in the United States in luxury shopping destinations including New York, Aspen, Bal Harbour , Beverly Hills, and Las Vegas. Founded in 1945 when master tailor Nazareno Fonticoli and businessman Gaetano Savini opened one of the first men’s fashion houses in Rome’s central Via Barberini, Brioni is named after one of the most elegant resorts on the Adriatic coast. Its custom tailoring was soon a favorite of Europe’s aristocracy, and Brioni quickly became the first true ambassador of men’s fashion in the world.
In the 1950s, during an era when all eyes were riveted on the Italian fashion scene, movie celebrities such as Clark Gable, Gary Cooper and Rock Hudson began to buy their suits from Brioni. In addition, Brioni’s designs scored successes and collected awards on both sides of the Atlantic. Brioni eventually opened shops in major cities around the world. Brioni has remained a reference point for luxury and quality tailoring to this day. Each Brioni garment takes at least 24 hours of work by more than 400 master tailors (and a total of 1,500 employees working in eight facilities), manufacturing the Formale, Donna and Leisurewear lines.
“Brioni’s fine Italian tailoring and international style are perfectly suited for The Streets of Buckhead,” said Ben Carter, founder and chairman of Ben Carter Properties. “Brioni has always been a personal favorite of mine, and I know the store will be one of the most popular shopping destinations for men in Atlanta.”
“I’m proud to be part of a such important and exclusive project in Atlanta,” said Andera Perrone, co-CEO of the Brioni Group. “The U.S. has always been our most important market; we opened our first foreign boutique in New York in 1982. Atlanta will be our seventh Brioni store in the U.S.; it is an ideal location for our made-to-measure service, and very well appreciated by the American consumer. My best wishes to The Streets of Buckhead, a temple for the luxury lifestyle.”
Leggiadro, an upscale destination for women’s fashion, has signed a commitment to open its newest U.S. location at The Streets of Buckhead. The 750-square-foot boutique at The Streets of Buckhead, the first for Leggiadro in Atlanta, will join the roster of cities that already benefit from the brand’s sophisticated, effortless style including Los Angeles; Palm Beach; and New York City. “Leggiadro” translated means something that is aesthetically beautiful, with the lightness and grace of a classic dancer. Leggiadro was founded in New York in 1985 by Ann Ross, a former fashion editor and lifelong fashion devotee, who is also the company’s creative director. Leggiadro is known for its ultra-luxe sportswear, which is sophisticated, elegant, striking-full of rich, delectable hues and unique prints. With each piece, extraordinary attention has been devoted to every detail of the collection, from conception to finishing.
“We are excited about Leggiadro making its Atlanta debut at The Streets of Buckhead,” said Carter. “Leggiadro’s rich colors and unique prints help women accomplish an easy elegance that perfectly suits confident, discerning customers.” “The Streets of Buckhead is the location we have been looking for in Atlanta over the past 5 years,” said Brooks Ross, President of Leggiadro. “An elegant street is a key component for a high-end retailer’s identity and we are very happy with Ben Carter’s vision.”
